The Winter Quarter of Sunday and Wednesday Bible School has begun! Special thanks to the members who are teaching or helping teach a class. A list of our children’s classes and teachers is on our website in the “What’s Here For Families” section. If you need a paper copy of the list contact the church office. A list of the classes and locations is available for viewing in the halls of the three buildings and copies are available at the Welcome Center in Building B. Thanks also to the members who teacher or help with Faith City, Kingdom Kids, and Teams 56!

Children’s Program DVD

Copies of the DVD with the 2009 Children’s Program are available in the foyer. This DVD also includes the morning worship for 11-22-09. If all the copies are gone, sign the list and one will be made and put in the wire basket for you.

Christmas Party

3rd & 4th graders will have a Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 13th in Building C from 3:00-4:30. Come join us for games and pizza!

No Classes December 23rd & 30th

There will be no Wednesday evening classes on Dec. 23rd & 30th due to the Christmas holidays. We will meet in the auditorium for an abbreviated devotional together.

Faith City and Kingdom Kids are well under way. We want to say a BIG thank you to all those who helped build and paint and do many other things in order for these programs to be so successful. We want to thank Doug, Davonia, Emily, Grace, Aaron and Sam Leach for all their help with the Kingdom Kids room. We also want to thank Shawn Fear, Lloyd Bennett, Luke & Linsay Williams, Buster & Cheryl Williams, Beverly Edgmon, Chris Fletcher, George Williams, Al Schreiner, Chuck Connally, and Terry & June Ford for all their help with Faith City.

Kindergarten Graduation

This is a picture of some of the young people who just completed Kindergarten and will be entering 1st Grade. We recognized them this past Sunday evening and gave each of them an illustrated New Testament and then shared a meal in Building C. Special thanks to Brenda Ford for organizing this event and thanks to all the families and members who have taught these young people Bible lessons in class and by example.

Promotion Sunday, August 30th

All of the children and youth simply go to their new Bible classes on Sunday, August 30th and Wednesday, September 2nd. When you take your child to their new class you will be asked to fill out an information card, or if you have received your information card in the mail, please bring it with you to give to your child’s teacher. If you need to know the location of the classrooms, you will find maps on the website or in the hallways in the church buildings. Printed copies will also be available in the foyer Welcome Center.

Back to School Devotional

This Wednesday evening, August 26th, our 2nd – 5th graders will meet in the Adventures room for a back to school devotional. The following Wednesday, Sept. 2nd, they will go to their new Bible classes.

We will soon be starting up our Sunday evening children’s programs again. These programs will begin Sunday Sept. 13th at 5:00. There have been some changes with these programs that you will want to be aware of:

Kingdom Kids – (formerly Bible Buddies) for 2 year olds – 5 years olds will now meet in Building C room 203

Faith City – (formerly Adventures) for kindergarten – 4th grade will continue to meet in Building C room 206

Team 56 – (formerly Soldiers Class) for 5th – 6th graders will meet in Building C room 205.

Equipping The Saints Workshop

Branching Out

Branching Out will meet Tuesday, July21st, at 10 AM in the auditorium. Bring a sack lunch. We will do a service project and then enjoy a video on the big screen. After that we will write notes of appreciation to others in Building C and eat lunch. Bring a sack lunch. We will be done by 12:30 PM.

Meeting Minutes

The Children’s Ministry Team met this past Sunday to discuss plans for the Fall of the year and beyond. We are looking for a few more teachers and helpers to begin on August 30th for the Fall Quarter. If you can help contact Brenda Ford or me. Children’s Education
Team Meeting

The Children’s Education Team will meet this Sunday at 4 PM in room C-206 (upstairs). Plans for the Fall of the year and beyond will be discussed. Members are always welcome to sit in on these planning meetings. Please contact Brenda Ford or me by Friday of this week if you plan to attend, especially if you have something for the agenda.

Promotion in Children’s
Bible Classes

Branching Out

Our next Branching Out will be Tuesday, July 14th. We will be visiting the Burleson Police Department and taking the officers and staff a basket of goodies to show them our appreciation for all they do for us in our community. We are asking each child to please bring a snack item to put in the basket (e.g. candy, gum, chips, crackers, fruit, etc.) We will leave the building at 10:00 a.m. After visiting the police station, we will be going to Warren Park to eat lunch together and play. Bring a sack lunch and bring a friend!

Children's Ministry News

Branching Out

Our first Branching Out will be on Tuesday, June 23rd. Kindergartners – 6th graders and their adult chaperones need to meet at Building C at 10:00 a.m. We will be going to Crowley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to help the residents decorate flower pots and plant flowers. Bring a sack lunch and we will eat lunch together after we return.

Bible Quest 2009 – The Amazing Race

Bible Quest for 2nd – 5th graders will begin Wednesday evening, June 24th. This year’s theme is “The Amazing Race.” We will meet in the Adventures room first for the skit and singing. Then we will go to grade level classes to finish up each evening. Bring your friends! You don’t want to miss “The Amazing Race”!

Special Father’s Day Message

Our kindergartners and 1st graders will be presenting a special Father’s Day message to our fathers and grandfathers next Sunday, June 21st at the beginning of the second service. The kindergartners and 1st graders will have a practice for this on Saturday, June 20th at 4:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Please see Brenda Ford if you have any questions.

2009 LTC
All the young people, coaches, and leaders of LTC did a phenomal job this year! This is a very complex project that takes a lot of preparation and practice. The end result is that our young people who participate are better equipped to be effective Christian in many areas of service. Special thanks to Mark Simmons for his leadership, Brandy Ford and Amy Neal for many hours of work on the details of logistics for our group and Monica Green and John Stovall for the pictures.

LTC Video Bible Drama

Bible Class Teaching Opportunities
We will be having a meeting on Sunday, April 26th at 4 PM in Building C for anyone who is interested in teaching a children's Bible class, who is not currently teaching. You will be given an opportunity to sign-up to teach a class anytime during the upcoming year. You can sign up for one quarter, a whole year, or anything in between. If you are unsure whether teaching Bible class is for you, come and find out! Resources and training with experienced Bible school teachers are provided.

Christian Education Dinner
The annual Christian Education Dinner was a special time including the message by Dale Smith to our Bible school teachers. Thanks to John Stovall for taking the pictures. While he was here Dale Smith also presented in assemblies and creative writing classes to 540 students at Ann Brock Elementary School, did an assembly for our Noah’s Ark Learning Center, read one of his children’s books at story time at the Burleson Public Library, conducted an “Every Kid A Winner” parenting workshop, taught a creative writing class, taught the combined teen and adult Bible Class Sunday, and preached at both morning worship services. His “Maybe There’s A Mabel” sermon was inspiring and encouraging!

Christian Education Banquet
Mark your calendar for Friday, March 27th at 6:30PM, for the Christian Education Banquet. All members and their families are invited to attend. Reservation forms are available in the foyer. Dale Smith will be our guest speaker. You can read about him at his website: www.grandpadale.com. Vance Godbey’s will cater the meal.

Every Kid A Winner Mini-Workshop
Dale Smith will conduct a short parenting workshop on Saturday, March 28th, 10AM-Noon in Building C. This is a free workshop for parents, grandparents, and other adults who work with children. Child-care will be available, but you need to call in advance and let us know you need child care. Let you friends and neighbors know about this. Leaflets are in the foyer.

Creative Writing Workshop
You can be a magical writer! Dale Smith will lead this group by sharing how you can learn to effectively write articles and books. The workshop is from 1:30 - 3:30 PM in Building C on Saturday, March 28th. It is for interested persons of all ages. There will not be child-care for this workshop. There is no cost.

Family Devotional Guides
Don’t forget to pick up your family devotional guide each week from your Bible class or get a copy at the information desk. The verse for this week is: “By the grace of God I am what I am.” 1 Corinthians 15:10

Teachers Needed
We are in need of teachers for some of our Wednesday evening classes for the spring quarter which begins this Wednesday, March 4th. We have openings in 4 yr. olds, 3rd grade and 4th grade. If you are interested, please see Brenda Ford ASAP.

Bible Class Teaching DVD
For those interested in or thinking about teaching a children’s Bible class, there is a DVD available at the information booth in the foyer which shows clips of teachers teaching in some of our Bible classes. It contains information about the workroom and other helpful tips, also. Please feel free to take a copy.

Team 56 meeting
Our next Team 56 meeting will be this Wednesday, March 4th from 7:45-8:00 in the sixth grade classroom.

2nd – 5th grade
Wednesday night classes

There will be a small change made affecting our 2nd – 5th graders on Wednesday evenings. Beginning Wednesday, March 11th these children will go directly to their Bible classes. They will not meet in the Adventures room first. They will remain in their classes during the Bible class hour and can be picked up in their class as usual.

Bible Class Teacher’s Meeting
We will have a meeting for our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening children’s Bible Class teachers this next Sunday, Feb. 22nd at 4:00. This involves teachers of two year olds through 6th graders. This meeting has been moved to the room over the foyer. If you need childcare during the meeting, please let Brenda Ford know ASAP.

Family Devotional Guides
Don’t forget to pick up your family devotional guide each week from your Bible class or get a copy at the information desk. The verse for this week is: “Be quick to listen and slow to speak.” James 1:19

Spring Curriculum
Spring curriculum is in for 2 year olds – 4th grade. Teachers may pick up their curriculum in the elder’s conference room. The curriculum is labeled with the teacher’s name.

A big thank you to everyone who helped with the childcare for the Fireproof movie Friday evening. We had well over 100 children and about half of them were visitors. It was a huge success, but a lot of work for all of our volunteers. Thank you again for giving up your Friday evening to help with these children -Brenda

Bible Teacher’s Workshop

Toby & Brenda Ford, Kevin Lombard, and Marilyn and I attended the annual Christian Education Conference last week. It was a great time or learning and fellowship. We came home renewed and with many new resources for our congregation. –Don

Lone Star
Bible Teacher’s Workshop

The second annual Lone Star Bible Teachers’ Workshop is Saturday, February 7th. Brochures are in the foyer. The church will pay your registration fee which includes lunch so please turn in a registration form to the church office, Brenda Ford, or me by February 1st. I hope many of our members will attend this event!

Childcare for “Fireproof” movie
Childcare will be provided during the “Fireproof” movie on Friday evening, Jan. 23rd. Infants through 2 year olds will be in the nursery in Building B. 3 year olds through fifth graders will be upstairs in Building C. You must sign in your child when you drop them off at Building C and receive a numbered security card that you will need in order for them to be released after the movie. If you are helping with childcare please report to the nursery or Building C by 6:40 p.m. If you do not know which room you have been assigned to, please come to Building C and you will be placed where you are needed.

VBS Planning Committee Meeting
We will have a VBS planning committee meeting Sunday, Jan. 25th immediately following the evening service in the elder’s conference room. Anyone who would like to help with planning VBS this year is encouraged to attend. We would love to have your ideas and input, even if you are unavailable during the week of VBS. VBS will be June 14-17, 2009.
